JAMMU, Aug 20: In a significant development, Ghulam Ali Khatana, a respected Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, made a noteworthy visit to the Chamber House. During this visit, he engaged in a constructive dialogue with the office bearers, senior members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), and representatives from diverse market associations. The discussions centered around pressing issues that are pivotal to trade, industry, and the well-being of the general public in the Jammu region.
Arun Gupta, the President of CCI, warmly welcomed Sh. Ghulam Ali Khatana and articulated various critical matters that were brought to the forefront during this interaction:
A crucial concern raised was the pressing need to suspend the ongoing installation of smart meters, aiming to address apprehensions linked to the implementation of this technology.
The plea to temporarily halt the collection of toll tax at Thandi Khoi by NHAI was emphasized, contingent on the completion of the expressway corridor. The rehabilitation of the damaged Tarnah Nallah (Chadwal) bridge to restore its functionality was also highlighted.
The extension of GST-linked incentives to existing industries emerged as a focal point, intended to bolster the survival of enterprises in the competitive landscape.
The establishment of significant industries, including a Rail Coach Factory and a Defense Equipment Manufacturing Factory in Jammu, was passionately advocated to generate employment opportunities for the local youth.
The need for a freight subsidy extended up to the National Capital was brought to attention, coupled with the imperative to streamline processes for GST refunds and interest subsidies.
A proposition to redefine the classification of "Khad Land" and formulate policies allowing commercial and construction activities on such lands took center stage as a strategy to stimulate investments.
The acceleration of beautification endeavors encompassing Jammu City Lake and the River Tawi's banks, alongside a robust push to foster tourism in the Jammu region, were underscored.
The necessity for improved rail connectivity, particularly through the introduction of a new super-fast train from Rajasthan, aimed at facilitating pilgrims visiting Mata Vaishno Devi, was prominently featured.
Responding to these concerns, Sh. Ghulam Ali Khatana assured the audience that proactive measures were already underway. He affirmed that he had initiated dialogue with the Power Development Department (PDD) regarding excessive billing and was optimistic about achieving a favorable outcome. Additionally, he committed to addressing the Toll Plaza issue by collaborating with NHAI to find swift resolutions. He pledged to carry the remaining issues presented during the meeting to higher authorities to ensure timely resolutions.
The meeting witnessed the presence of distinguished figures such as Sh. Prithvi Raj Gupta, former Secretary General of CCI, and several executive committee members and office bearers of CCI. This event marked a collaborative endeavor between governmental representatives and business leaders, aiming to address pertinent concerns and foster positive transformations within the community.
