All Action Committee raises concerns over camp conditions, unattended demands

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 22: The All Action Committee, in a joint statement, has expressed deep concern regarding the dire state of camps due to the non-attendance of relevant authorities to address pressing issues. The statement highlights several burning demands that have not received the necessary attention.
The water supply to TRT Camp Nagrota has been significantly affected, causing distress among the residents. Additionally, the water supply to Jagti Camp has deteriorated due to the alleged high-handedness of contractors who enjoy extensions. These contractors, accused of providing unhygienic water supply once a week, are reportedly causing losses to the government exchequer. The Jal Shakti Department has not taken over the scheme as ordered by the government in 2021, leading to suspicions of collusion between the department and existing private contractors.
The maintenance of sanitation, repair of buildings (seemingly on a selective basis), and the clearing of parks and lanes have all seen neglect, resulting in suffering for the residents of Jagti Camp. Drainages meant for sanitation are often blocked, causing unsanitary conditions within the camp.
Furthermore, the supply of flour atta has been halted for the past five months, leading to hardships, particularly for diabetic patients.
The All Action Committee Migrant Camps has urgently called for the prioritized resolution of these issues. It has warned that if these concerns are not promptly addressed, the migrants may resort to protests. The committee places the responsibility on the concerned authorities for any potential law and order issues that might arise as a consequence.
This statement serves as a call to action for authorities to address the grievances of the residents in these camps promptly and effectively to avoid any potential disruptions.
