Following a prominent event in the Union Territory chaired by LG Brig Dr B.D. Mishra (Retd) a few days earlier, this occasion was spearheaded by Amit Sharma, IAS, Commissioner Secretary of the Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department. Sharma's presence underlined the event's importance, symbolizing the Government's commitment to honoring the selfless service of national heroes.
The event featured notable figures, including Additional District Development Commissioner of Leh Sonam Nurboo, Lieutenant Colonel Rajput Battalion Nimoo Ashish Choubey, along with Jawans, Chairperson of Nimoo's BDC Tashi, DPO Leh Junaid Amin, and Rural Development Department officials. The attendance of school children and staff from Government High School Nimoo added youthful reverence to the proceedings.
A touching moment unfolded as Shri Amit Sharma paid tribute to the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. Their unwavering dedication and bravery were solemnly remembered.
A heartwarming gesture ensued as families of the martyrs were felicitated and tokens of appreciation were presented by Secretary RDD Amit Sharma. This not only expressed the nation's deep indebtedness but also highlighted the unbreakable bond between our brave hearts and the community they protected.
During the event, attendees, led by Secretary Amit Sharma, collectively took the Panchpran Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to unity, diversity, and nation-building. The event concluded with the harmonious strains of the National Anthem, a reminder of the shared pride and identity uniting us all.
Amidst the solemnity, Amit Sharma praised the valor and spirit of local heroes of Nimoo in his presidential address, terming them as role models for the Union Territory. This was followed by a cultural program organized by school children, infusing vibrancy and creativity through performances that paid homage to the martyrs and their families. The young talents expressed themselves artistically while honoring the sacrifices that secure our freedom.
