National Conference demands abolishment of illegal Toll Plaza, addresses Smart Meter issue
8/22/2023 10:30:44 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 22: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has called for the immediate removal of the unauthorized toll plaza at Sarore in Samba district. The party stated that the presence of this toll plaza not only places an undue financial burden on citizens but also highlights the failure of the Lieutenant Governor administration to address crucial issues in the region.
Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of JKNC, issued a statement asserting that the Sarore toll plaza has raised concerns among the public due to its violation of the Toll Plaza Act. The party has taken a firm stance against the establishment of the toll plaza in Sarore, as it does not adhere to the norms for its establishment. Gupta noted that according to the Toll Plaza Act, a new toll plaza cannot be set up within a minimum distance of 60 kilometers from an existing one, but the distance between Ban and Sarore Toll Plazas is nearly 35 kilometers.
Gupta further stated, "The establishment of an unauthorized toll plaza at Sarore is not only against the principles of justice and fairness but also indicative of the administration's failure to address the burning issues that concern the people of the Jammu region. The Party demands the immediate removal of this toll plaza, which is causing undue financial strain on our citizens."
He emphasized that the primary responsibility of the administration should be to protect the rights and interests of citizens, addressing their concerns promptly. Gupta called on the Lieutenant Governor administration to heed the voices of the people and take swift action to rectify the situation by safeguarding the interests of the general public.
Gupta also highlighted the issue of Smart Meters in the Jammu district, expressing concern that people are frustrated with the BJP's ineffective governance and anti-people policies. He accused both the central government and the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Administration of imposing hardships on the public through their decisions, despite growing resentment.
Gupta pointed out a case where a widow and mother of an auto driver received a Rs. 71 lakh bill, illustrating the stark difference between Smart and Digital meters. He criticized the BJP leadership for remaining silent on the inflated power bills issue in the Jammu region.
The Provincial President concluded by saying that the people of the Jammu region are observing the actions of the Saffron Party (BJP) and will express their sentiments in the upcoming polls in Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the people to consider giving a chance to the National Conference, which is committed to fulfilling the wishes and aspirations of the general public.
