| Train to go Baramulla next month | | |
ET REPORT New Delhi, January 28: The Rajwansher-Baramulla section of the railways in Kashmir will be thrown open for traffic with the inauguration of the Srinagar International Airport soon. The assurance was given by the Railway Minister, mr. Lalu Prasad yadav to the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah who met him here today. The Chief Minister, who is currently on a visit to the national capital, called on Minister for Railways and requested him to have the work on Katra-Qazigund rail sector resumed at the earliest. The Railway Minister assured him that the work wherever suspended due to technicalities will be resumed soon. The Chief Minister also urged him to throw open for traffic the Rajwansher-Baramulla track of the railway in Kashmir at the earliest. Mr. Lalu told the Chief Minister that the same would be done soon to coincide it with the inauguration of the international airport at Srinagar. Later, interacting with the waiting mediapersons, the Chief Minister described the Kashmir railways as a national project and said successive Governments played their role in its completion. Later, the Chief Minister also met Union Minister for Urban Development, Mr. Jaipal Reddy and discussed with him several upcoming urban infrastructure projects in the State. Mr. Reddy promised the Chief Minister to sanction more projects under the UIDSSMT. He specifically assured him to sanction upto Rs. 70 crore in the current financial year for at least two projects under UIDSSMT. On the request of the Chief Minister, the Union Minister ordered the release of the second installment of funds under the schemes of UIDSSMT and UIG (Urban Integration & Governance).
