RS PURA, Aug 29: The Department of Physical Education and Sports at Government Degree College, R. S. Pura, marked the "National Sports Day, 2023" with great fervor and enthusiasm. The day witnessed an exciting lineup of activities, including Intramural Chess and Carrom tournaments, organized under the esteemed patronage of Prof. Rajni Bhagat, the college's Principal, and the supervision of Kajal Premi, Physical Director (PTI).
A remarkable number of students participated in the competitions with a spirited zeal. The event aimed to foster a sense of sportsmanship and healthy competition among the college's student body. The results of the tournaments were as follows:
Chess Tournament:
1st Position: Drubh Singh (B. A. Semester III)
2nd Position: Hardit Singh (B. Sc Semester III)
3rd Position: Vishal Kumar (B. A. Semester III)
Carrom Tournament:
1st Position: Rahul Kumar (B. A. Semester III)
2nd Position: Vikas Kumar (B. A. Semester III)
3rd Position: Sahil Plathia (B. A. Semester III)
The winners were felicitated with certificates, acknowledging their dedication and skill in the respective games. The Principal of the college, Prof. Rajni Bhagat, extended her heartfelt appreciation to the Department of Physical Education and Sports for successfully organizing the event. She commended the students for their active participation, highlighting the importance of sports in nurturing a holistic education.
Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Convener of the Sports Committee, Prof. Esha Abrol, Prof. Vijay Kumari, Prof. Rakesh Choudhary, and Dr. Shaveta Chowdhary were also present during the event, adding to the vibrancy of the celebrations.
The National Sports Day celebrations at Government Degree College, R.S. Pura, not only provided a platform for friendly competition but also emphasized the significance of sports in promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and discipline among the students.
