| HC asks for maintaining security cover of PDP leader | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 30- Vacation Judge of the state High Court Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain today in a petition filed by former PDP MLA Shanti Devi seeking directions to the respondents to restore back the residential security which was illegally withdrawn, issued notice to the state of Jammu and Kashmir through Chief Secretary, Financial Commissioner Home, DGP, ADG Security, IGP Jammu Zone, SSP Jammu and SSP Security Jammu returnable within one week with directions to file objections and inform the court about the entitlement of the petitioner to security. Court after hearing Advocate SS Ahmed, appearing for the petitioner, further ordered that in the meanwhile, till next date of hearing, the security cover provided to petitioner shall continue. The petitioner in her petition sought directions to the respondents to restore the residential guard of the petitioner which was illegally withdrawn by the respondents on January 24, 2009 despite fully knowing the threat perception to the petitioner who is an Ex-MLA PDP and who along her grand-daughter were targeted by the miscreants on August 2, 2008 during the 63- day agitation of Amarnath Ji land row. She further sought direction to respondents to provide adequate security cover to the petitioner who is a senior PDP leader in Jammu and is the target of both anti-national and anti-social elements.
