| Results of 7th batch of global understanding course announced | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, January 30: The result of 7th Batch comprising of 14 students undergoing Global Understanding Course at University of Jammu in collaboration with East Carolina University, USA was declared today.
In a simple yet impressive function held in the office chamber of the Vice Chancellor, the successful candidates were distributed the certificates by Prof. Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu.
Prof Sahni while distributing the certificates to the students appreciated the creative efforts being undertaken by the University in broadening the horizon of the students.
According to Dr. Parikshat Singh Manhas Coordinator and Lead teacher for the course, Course on Global Understanding was started in August, 2005 with the special efforts of University of Jammu administration, keeping in view the importance of networking and collaborations.
The initiative to collaborate with East Carolina University was undertaken to make University of Jammu a hub of Academic, Research, and Extension activities and thus the Global Understanding Course was started. University of Jammu has been constantly working towards the promotion and growth of such short term courses for the benefit of student community.
Dr. Manhas detailed that the Global Understanding Course provides a format for students to learn about other cultures without actually traveling places. Currently there are 25 foreign Universities from 16 countries participating in the Global Understanding Course. These partner institutions are diverse and worldwide and communicate through live video and chat technology.
The present batch of students interacted with the students of four foreign universities including East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C. USA,Wayne State College, N.E. USA, Istanbul University, Istanbul, Turkey Universidad Metropolitan, Caracas, Venezuela
It is pertinent to mention here that the 8th batch of this course is starting from February 12, 2009, for which the admissions are open and the interested candidates can contact the office of the Coordinator, Global Understanding Course, The Business School and University of Jammu.
