HIRANAGAR, Sept 2: Govt. GLDM Degree College in Hiranagar recently organized an enlightening Investor Awareness Program focused on mutual funds. Dr. Pragya Khanna, the Principal of the college, presided over the event, which took place in the college's conference hall.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Prof. Rakesh Sharma, the Head of the Hindi department at the college. The featured speaker for the day was Mr. Vashisht Kumar, Branch Manager of SBI Mutual Fund, Jammu, who boasts over a decade of extensive experience in the mutual fund market.
The central aim of this initiative was to motivate students and staff while shedding light on the significance of mutual funds. Mr. Kumar delved into the need for investing in the capital market, emphasizing its potential benefits over traditional bank deposits. He also discussed how technology has revolutionized the functioning of the capital market, providing fresh perspectives for investors.
Kumar took it upon himself to demystify common myths surrounding capital market investments. He provided insights into the truths about capital markets, offering valuable advice to those seeking to venture into this realm. Additionally, Ravi Kumar, a mutual fund advisor, used a compelling PowerPoint presentation to highlight methods of minimizing risks in investments. He stressed the feasibility of investing in mutual funds with even small amounts of funds and advocated the importance of patience in the investment process.
During the program, Ravi Kumar elucidated the concept of Systematic Investment Plans (SIP), showcasing how this disciplined approach can be a powerful tool for wealth creation over time.
The event witnessed active participation from a large number of students. Staff members, including Prof. Sujat, Prof. Rajesh Sharma, Prof. Arun Kumar, Prof. Parveen Sharma, Prof. Jyoti Rani, Prof. Neha Bhagat, Prof. Kiran Thappa, Prof. Sukhdeep Singh, Prof. Manjot Singh, Prof. Chinky Sangral, Prof. Reetika, and Prof. Usha Rani, attended the program and contributed to its success.
The entire program was skillfully coordinated by Prof. Gurdyal, Head of Geography, and Prof. Rakesh Sharma, Head of Hindi, ensuring its smooth execution and informative content.
The Investor Awareness Program on Mutual Funds at Govt. GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar, played a pivotal role in enhancing financial literacy and empowering students and staff with valuable insights into the world of investment, capital markets, and mutual funds.
