Valley residents share grievances with CM

SRINAGAR, JAN 31: Hundreds of people and several deputations from all over the valley today met Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah at his Srinagar official residence in an open public darbar. They informed him about difficulties regarding basic amenities, public utility services and listed problems of individual nature.
From the early morning, large number of people from Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian, Pahalgam, Tral, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Baramulla, Bandipora, Beerwah, Kupwara, Handwara, Lolab and other places met the Chief Minister to seek his personal intervention in the redressal of their problems.
A deputation from Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Association led by Haji Mohammad Yousuf pleaded for insurance scheme for fruit crop. They also demanded timely availability of fertilizers and pesticides. The Association underscored the need for modern fruit mandis and cold storage facilities.
A deputation of Urdu Academy led by Mr. Noor Shah presented a proposal to the Chief Minister regarding improvement and propagation of Urdu language.
Another deputation comprising Corporators of Srinagar Municipal Corporation led by Mayor, Mr. Salman Sagar, discussed issues relating to the functioning of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and brought to the notice of the Chief Minister various suggestions for strengthening the Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
Omar Abdullah, while assuring every support from the Government to the Municipal Corporations, said that these should channelize the resources and enhance revenue generation to have a strong economic base.
A deputation from Lolab led by former MLA, Mr. Qaiser Jamsheed Lone called on Chief Minister and apprised him of the development demands of Lolab areas.
A deputation of Community Information Centre (CIC) Operators led by Mr. Mushtaq Guru presented their demands to the Chief Minister.
A deputation of Houseboat Owner’s Association brought to the Chief Minister’s notice various issues relating to the development of tourism. They also informed him about their problems and demands.
A deputation of the residents of Tibatian Colony presented a list of demands to the Chief Minister and various deputations led by Political and Social leaders from Ganderbal apprised the Chief Minister about their demands for the development of the area.
The large number of individuals which met the Chief Minister sought his intervention in solving their individual problems pertaining to various issues including employment.
Omar Abdullah said while Government was keen to absorb the youth in the Government service wherever possible through Recruitment Agencies, vistas for large number of jobs in private sector were also being opened. He said Government would provide every assistance and make procedures easy for youth to launch independent employment generating ventures.
