JAMMU, Sept 2: A one-day national seminar was held as part of the closing ceremony of the Sanskrit Fortnight celebrations. The seminar, organized jointly by the Agricultural Produce and Farmers Welfare Department, Jammu, and the Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic Sansthan Trust, discussed the potential success of astrology-based agriculture. KK Sharma, Director of the Agricultural Produce and Farmers Welfare Department, presided over the event.
The chief guest for the event was former minister and Jammu and Kashmir BJP vice president Sham Lal Sharma, while senior advocate Vikram Sharma, president of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu, was the special guest. The keynote address was delivered by Gold Medalist Jyoti Prakash Shastri, Principal of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Rehari, Jammu.
Sham Lal Sharma emphasized that agriculture has become not only a means of livelihood but also a profitable business. He highlighted the importance of using Indian Vaastu Shastra and astrology alongside scientific methods in farming to maximize benefits. He praised the role of the Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic Sansthan Trust in promoting Sanskrit.
Vikram Sharma explained how planetary positions and zodiac signs directly impact crop yields. He mentioned that Mercury is the lord of greenery, while Jupiter rules crops like gram. The movement and position of planets influence rainfall required for crops. Sowing during the Mrigashira Nakshatra is considered ideal according to astrology.
Jyoti Prakash Shastri discussed the effects of water, air, and fire and their connection to the movement of the moon through the zodiac signs. He stressed the importance of organizing programs that address these influences on agriculture.
Agriculture Director KK Sharma explained how the movement of planets affects not only farmers but also their crops and yields. He discussed the impact of astrology on farming and the promotion of the biodynamic almanac method by the Agriculture Department.
Professor Sharat Sharma, a trust member, highlighted various activities conducted during the Sanskrit Fortnight, including seminars, signature campaigns for a separate Sanskrit University in Jammu and Kashmir, Sanskrit education in schools, and plantation drives. He also mentioned the release of a Sanskrit book and other initiatives to promote the Sanskrit language.
This report covers the conclusion of the Sanskrit Fortnight celebrations with a focus on astrology-based agriculture and the role of astrology in farming practices. It highlights the key points discussed during the seminar and the participation of various dignitaries and organizations in promoting Sanskrit language and culture.
