Poonch campus promotes menstrual health and hygiene awareness through art

Poonch, Sept 2: Poonch Campus, University of Jammu, organized a unique painting event called "Colors of Awareness: Menstrual Health and Hygiene Matters" to raise awareness about menstrual health and hygiene. This creative initiative aimed to blend art with education to encourage open conversations and challenge the stigma surrounding menstruation.
Participants, including students from both the Girls and Boys Hostels, expressed their support for menstrual health and hygiene awareness through their artistic creations. The event provided a platform for artists and the community to celebrate the importance of menstrual health, fostering dialogue and understanding.
Prof. Rakesh Vaid, Director of Poonch Campus, commended the initiative and congratulated the students for their efforts. He emphasized the significance of using art to communicate vital messages and promote awareness.
Dr. Rubia Bukhari, Campus Officer and Warden of the Hostels, played a key role in organizing the event and expressed her delight at the students' active participation. She highlighted how art has the power to transcend barriers and effectively convey messages, especially on topics like menstrual health and hygiene. The event encouraged students and artists to unite in the mission of destigmatizing menstruation and advocating for informed menstrual health choices. Participants showcased their talents by creating unique artworks that addressed the importance of menstrual health and hygiene. This initiative demonstrated how art can be a powerful tool for social change and education, sparking meaningful conversations and breaking taboos surrounding menstrual health.
