| DyCM’s directive on completing ongoing projects in time | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JAN 31: Emphasizing on interdepartmental coordination, Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Tara Chand has called for timely completion of infrastructure development projects for providing immediate benefits to the people.
Chairing a high-level meeting of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), here this evening, Mr. Tara Chand directed for undertaking ongoing projects of urgent public utility in double-shifts without compromising with the quality and specified parameters. For the purpose, he called for regular monitoring by the nodal agency UEED.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that works must be prioritised before taking up their execution and first priority needs to be given on the projects of urgent and longer public utility. He said before starting work on a project, the minor works related with essential services like power, water and communications should be taken full care of.
Mr. Tara Chand made it clear that every officer would be accountable for his assigned job and no laxity on the part of any government functionary will be tolerated. He ordered attachment of Executive Engineer, UEED with Administrative Department for showing lackadaisical approach.
The Deputy Chief Minister was informed that J&K State Urban Infrastructure Development Agency (SUIDA) has been created as State-level Nodal Agency for implementation of JNNURM. A sum of Rs. 26.31 crore has already been spent till December, 2008. A 27 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) at Bhagwati Nagar has been completed and is likely to be commissioned in March, 2009. The 45 MLD Sewerage Pump Station at the same place has also come up, while work on trunk severs and secondary and lateral sewers is going on at a fast pace.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Commissioner/Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Mrs. Naseem Lankar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Mr. Sudhanshu Pandey, Commissioner, Municipality, Vice-Chairman, JDA, Chief Engineers and other senior officers of PDD, PHE, UEED, SUIDA and Municipality.
