IIPA JKRB organizes 10th Shri Ram Sahai memorial lecture on “Revitalizing Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in J&K”

JAMMU, Sept 3: The Indian Institute of Public Administration, JK Regional Branch (IIPA JKRB), hosted the 10th Shri Ram Sahai Memorial Lecture, focusing on the theme of “Revitalizing Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in J&K.” The lecture was delivered by Sh. Vikramjit Singh, IPS, Commissioner/Secretary to Government Industries & Commerce Department J&K. The event was presided over by Sh. B R Sharma, IAS (R), State Election Commissioner and Chairman of IIPA JKRB.
In his enlightening lecture, Sh. Vikramjit Singh highlighted the commitment of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir to rejuvenate the entrepreneurial ecosystem through innovative strategic and policy measures. He emphasized the importance of facilitating financial support for various industrial units and creating conducive conditions to attract large-scale industries to J&K. Sh. Vikramjit Singh urged the youth to venture into start-ups, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, power, IT, and logistics. He also noted the significant potential of the Lithium “White Gold” Reserve in J&K as a game changer that can usher in new opportunities.
Sh. B R Sharma, in his presidential remarks, paid homage to Sh. Ram Sahai, describing him as a visionary and passionate entrepreneur who excelled in networking and negotiating for the greater common good of J&K. Regarding the entrepreneurial environment in J&K, Sh. Sharma highlighted its favorable conditions and stressed the importance of collaboration between the government and other stakeholders to fully leverage the opportunities. He suggested the organization of regular stakeholder consultation workshops to fine-tune policies.
Sh. K B Jandial, IAS (Retd.), Director (Seminars) at IIPA JKRB, offered glowing tributes to the late Sh. Ram Sahai. He acknowledged Sh. Sahai’s significant contributions in bringing trade and commerce issues to the forefront. The annual memorial lecture serves as a platform to discuss industry-relevant topics and continue Sh. Sahai’s legacy.
Sh. Rahul Sahai, in his concluding remarks, highlighted J&K’s potential for socio-economic development through entrepreneurship. He stressed the importance of entrepreneurial education, skill development, access to capital, supporting infrastructure, networking opportunities, and a conducive environment to make J&K an attractive hub for entrepreneurship. He expressed his gratitude to IIPA for organizing the annual memorial lecture in honor of his father.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Alka Sharma, Secretary of IIPA JKRB, and was conducted by Dr. Anil Gupta, Joint Secretary. The event drew the participation of over 100 eminent individuals, including members of IIPA, family members of late Sh. Ram Sahai, and various distinguished personalities from the region.
