Jammu-Kashmir Shri Kashi Vidwat Parishad Celebrates Sanskrit Week and Honors Scholars in Grand Event

JAMMU, Sept 3: The Jammu-Kashmir Shri Kashi Vidwat Parishad orchestrated a magnificent celebration of Sanskrit Week, coupled with an esteemed scholarly recognition ceremony, held at Om Palace in Shakti Nagar, Jammu.
The event witnessed the esteemed presence of distinguished guests, with the honorable Member of Parliament for Jammu, Shri Jugal Kishor Sharma, gracing the occasion as the chief guest.
The program also welcomed a special guest, Ashok Kumar, Director of School Education in Jammu, and Former Jammu Municipal Corporation Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta. Padma Shri Prof. Vishwamurti Shastri presided over the event as its chairperson, and the capable management of the event was overseen by the General Secretary of the Shri Kashi Vidwat Parishad.
In his insightful address, Mr. Sushant Shastri, the keynote speaker, underscored the significance of the Shravani Utsav (Sanskrit Month) and shed light on the practical applicability of Sanskrit as an academic subject within society. He passionately advocated for the promotion and propagation of Sanskrit language and literature in the region.
Jugal Kishor Sharma reaffirmed his unwavering support for the Kashi Vidwat Parishad’s mission to spread Sanskrit education and elevate the status of Sanskrit at the school level in Jammu-Kashmir. Ashok Sharma echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the government’s steadfast commitment to these endeavors.
Prof. Vishwamurti Shastri, in his presidential address, provided valuable insights into the relevance of Sanskrit in contemporary society and its multifaceted utility.
He emphasized the importance of seamlessly integrating Sanskrit into modern life, showcasing its enduring and timeless value.
During the ceremony, Dr. Lakshmi Dutt Shastri and Dr. Raj Kumar were bestowed with the prestigious title of “Vidwat Bhushan” in recognition of their exceptional contributions to Sanskrit.
The program culminated with the rendition of the National Unity mantra and the national anthem, fostering a profound sense of unity and patriotism among all attendees.
The event served not only as a celebration of the rich heritage of Sanskrit but also as a platform to highlight its contemporary relevance in today’s society.
It augurs a promising future for the language in the Jammu-Kashmir region, underlining its enduring significance and cultural significance.
