9/3/2023 10:49:15 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 3: Ashok Koul, General Secretary (Org), and Kavinder Gupta unveiled a statue of Atal Behari Vajpayee during a ceremony held at Atalji Chowk near Radio Station Jammu. The event was graced by the presence of several prominent individuals, including Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament (MP); Purnima Sharma, Corporator Ward No: 1 and former Deputy Mayor; Parmod Kapahi, District President; and various other dignitaries.
Kavinder Gupta, who provided the funds for the installation of the statue, has been actively involved in various initiatives to honor notable figures. During his tenure as Mayor, he was instrumental in installing statues of Maharaja Hari Singh, Acharya Chanakya, and Jai Prakash Narayan, among others. He also oversaw the construction of Balidan Stambh at Ambphalla, Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan Road, and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chowk.
Speaking at the event, Ashok Koul emphasized that Atal Behari Vajpayee would forever be a source of inspiration for the BJP. He highlighted the achievements of Vajpayee during his remarkable 60-year parliamentary career, including his impressive address at the United Nations and the initiation of the National Highways project, which transformed the nation’s infrastructure.
Kavinder Gupta praised Atal Behari Vajpayee’s contributions to good governance during his tenure as Prime Minister.
He emphasized that Vajpayee’s leadership led to the abrogation of Article 370, which had only promoted separatism and terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Gupta stressed that this bold decision had shut down the political shops that exploited Article 370 for their own gain.
Former Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma highlighted the qualities of Atal Behari Vajpayee as a long-serving parliament member, demonstrating his excellence as a people’s representative. The statue unveiled at Atalji Chowk serves as a tribute to his legacy.
The event concluded with the announcement that a significant function would be held on December 25, Atal Behari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary, at the same location.
