| Embezzled govt cement seized, one arrested | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 31: The Jammu Police has seized 375 bags of cement misappropriated by Irrigation Department and has one person arrested in this connection. On receipt of a specific information that large quantity of Departmental Cement has been misappropriated by the officials of Irrigation Division, Akhnoor with the convenience of contractor Joginder Singh resident of Sobka Tehsil Jammu and the same has been sold to one Sajnay Gupta son of Tilak Raj, resident of Jiopota Akhnoor, Proprietor of M/S Jai Durga Traders located at Pannu Chowk, Akhnoor, the premises of Jai Durga Traders was checked and 375 bags of Ambuja Cement was found lying in the same shop. The owner of the shop was asked to produce the purchasing bills of the cement in question which he failed to produce. During the questioning, the shopkeeper revealed that he had purchased 440 bags of Ambuja Cement from contractor Joginder Singh R/o sobka. He further disclosed that he had sold 65 bags to different customers. As such, case FIR No.24/2009 U/S 409/420/109 RPC has been registered in P/S Akhnoor and 375 bags of Ambuja Cement has been seized and the shopkeeper Sanjay Gupta has been arrested. Efforts are on to effect the arrest of the accused including Govt. officials involved in the said case and to recover remaining bags of cement. Further investigation is going on.
