RAMBAN, Sept 5: In a determined crackdown on bovine smuggling, the Ramban Police conducted a massive operation, codenamed "Operation Kamdhenu," resulting in the rescue of a staggering 819 bovine animals. This operation is part of a broader effort to curb the illegal and inhumane practice of bovine smuggling in the Ramban District.
The operation involved the interception of fifty-three (53) different vehicles, each bearing distinct registration numbers. These vehicles, listed below, were on their way from Jammu towards Srinagar when they were stopped:

To address this egregious situation, the Ramban Police registered 54 cases across various police stations, including Police Station Ramban, Chanderkote, Batote, Banihal, Ramsoo, and Dharamkund. A total of 63 accused persons were booked in connection with these cases. Furthermore, all the aforementioned vehicles were seized, and the accused individuals were arrested under relevant sections of the law. Investigations into these cases have been initiated to bring the perpetrators to justice.
