Police in Manwal Intercept two vehicles transporting 27 bovine animals in cruel conditions
9/5/2023 9:59:21 PM
Early Times Report
MANWAL, Sept 5: In a decisive operation carried out during the intervening night of September 4th and 5th, 2023, the police party of Police Post (PP) Manwal intercepted two vehicles at the checkpoint in Nadal. These vehicles were en route from Battal/Samba towards Udhampur/Kashmir when they were halted for inspection.
The first vehicle, a truck with registration number JK03G-3476, was discovered to be loaded with 15 bovine animals. The second vehicle, another truck bearing registration number JK02AT-9587, was also found to be transporting bovine animals, with a total of 12 animals on board.
What was particularly distressing was the condition in which these 27 bovine animals were being transported. They were subjected to merciless and cruel conditions, without access to basic necessities such as fodder and water. Additionally, it was determined that these transports lacked the necessary valid District Magistrate's permissions, as mandated by law.
Prompt action was taken by the police to address this dire situation. Both vehicles were seized, and the animals were rescued from their harsh and inhumane conditions. The welfare of the bovine animals was the top priority, and immediate steps were taken to ensure their safety.
In response to this incident, Police Post Manwal has taken cognizance of the matter and has forwarded the necessary details to Police Station Jhajjar Kotli for the lodging of First Information Reports (FIRs). A thorough investigation will be carried out to establish the full facts of the case and hold those responsible for the mistreatment of the animals accountable under the law.
The police in Manwal are committed to upholding the rights and welfare of all living creatures and will continue to take stringent actions against cruelty and any illegal activities.
