Union leaders leave teachers, lecturers in lurch
9/5/2023 10:38:07 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 5: Badly affected by the illogical and absurd mass transfers of teaching staff in Jammu province, disturbed teachers and lecturers felt cheated and ditched by their union leaders.
Lecturers and teachers felt that their union leaders failed to protect the interests of those teaching staff who had no approach to the administration and were solely depending upon their union leaders.
While hundreds of teachers and lecturers were thrown out in far-flung and remote areas, union leaders managed their own transfers in the city and adjoining areas.
Not only union leaders manage their own transfers in towns and adjoining localities they also arrange the transfer of their hardcore supporters in approachable areas.
Dislocated by the much-publicized ATD scheme, teaching staff have reasons to blame their union leaders for their harassment because none of their leaders have raised their voice over the illogical transfer, especially those of females who have been thrown out from one district to another without any logic.
Wishing anonymity some teachers told the Early Times the much-publicized ATD was nothing but a big fraud for cheap publicity.
After the transfer of teachers and lecturers, many schools in the remote areas of Jammu province have become understaffed as most of the influential teachers and lecturers have been shifted to towns.
Data shared by Deputy Commissioner Ramban is an example of how influential teachers and lecturers have been shifted in the city.
Out of the total sanctioned strength of 253 lecturers in this district, only 90 posts have been filled and 163 have been vacant.
