Tawi Trekkers J&K Club Institutes “Narinder Singh dedication Award” to Honor Late Member’s Legacy

Jammu, Sept 5: In a heartfelt tribute to commemorate the remarkable contributions and unwavering dedication of the late Lt Sh. Narinder Singh Slathia, the Tawi Trekkers J&K Club has established an annual award in his memory.
The award, named the “Narinder Singh Dedication Award,” seeks to recognize and honor individuals who embody the same spirit of selfless service and passion for the club.
The decision to institute this award was made during a club meeting chaired by Ashwani Sharma, a former MLA and Patron of the club.
The meeting was convened to mourn the untimely loss of Narinder Singh Slathia, a stalwart of the club whose dedication and hard work served as an inspiration to its members.
Ram Khajuria, President of the club, spoke fondly of Narinder Singh’s accomplishments and his invaluable contributions to the promotion of mountaineering, trekking, sport climbing, and various organizational matters within the club.
He acknowledged the irreplaceable void left by Narinder Singh’s passing.
Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Co-Chairman of the club, reminisced about his cherished memories of working alongside Narinder Singh as Camp Leaders during the Dalhousie Chamba Trekking Programme organized by the club in the 1990s.
Several prominent members of the club, including Patron Rahul Sharma, Vice President Mridhu Padha, General Secretary Shawetica Khajuria, and senior members Vivek Chauhan, Navneet Gupta, Sumit Singh, and Rajinder Sharma, paid their respects to Narinder Singh’s legacy.
Sumit Khajuria, who had participated in three mountaineering expeditions with Narinder Singh, highlighted his mentor’s qualities such as grit, determination, tenacity, and a positive attitude even in adverse situations.
During the meeting, members observed a two-minute silence and offered prayers for the eternal peace of their beloved leader, Narinder Singh.
The “Narinder Singh Dedication Award” stands as a testament to the enduring impact of Narinder Singh’s commitment and service to the Tawi Trekkers J&K Club, ensuring that his legacy continues to inspire and motivate future generations.
