Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 6: In a significant step towards revitalizing its role, the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board unveiled its new logo during a special event at the Board Headquarters in Srinagar. Eminent Islamic scholar Maulana Ghulam Rasool Hami joined Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board and Minister of State, J&K, in launching the logo. The event was graced by renowned Islamic scholars, Waqf Board members, CEO Dr. Majid Jahangir, and Magistrate Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin.
Maulana Hami expressed his pleasure at the steps being taken by the Waqf Board to restore its position in Jammu and Kashmir. He commended the Board's reformative efforts under the leadership of Dr. Andrabi and highlighted the significance of the newly unveiled logo.
Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi explained the symbolism behind the logo, emphasizing its representation of the Sufi spiritual tradition of Islam. "We have chosen the Rub-el-Hizb as the main outline for its proposed logo. It is in the shape of an Octagram represented by two overlapping squares. It symbolizes the ancient Islamic system for recitation of the Quran," she said. "Symbolically, the Octagonal Star has been used by Islamic Mathematicians to represent the Quranic wisdom as per the pattern of compilation of the Quran-e-Majeed, signifying its availability for all till eternity."
The octagons in the logo symbolize the angels carrying the throne of God. The upper ceiling of the octagon features the Islamic architectural symbol of a shrine with a crescent on top. The tombs within the green arch represent the shrine of the great Prophet Hazrat Mohammad Mustafa (PBUH), symbolizing the enduring source of Islam, the faith of peace. The crescent on top signifies the guidance of God in both this life and the hereafter. The base-hold for the main logo carries the name of J&K WAQF BOARD in both Urdu and English.
Dr. Darakhshan expressed her gratitude to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the scholars for their support of the Waqf Board's reformative decisions.
The event was gracefully anchored by renowned presenter Tabraiz Madani. This new logo represents a significant step forward for the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, aligning it with the rich Sufi Islamic tradition and emphasizing its commitment to reform and progress.
