Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 7: A captivating bio drama titled 'The Uncrowned Poet,' based on the life of legendary Dogri writer and Sahitya Academy Awardee Kunwar Viyogi, is set to grace the stage on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, at 6 pm at Abhinav Theatre in Jammu. This theatrical masterpiece has been scripted by Aarushi Thakur Rana and skillfully directed by Gauri Thakur. It presents a golden opportunity for the audience to witness a dramatic portrayal of the life of a local hero who significantly elevated Dogri literature to remarkable heights. The production is sponsored by the Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust, and admission to the show is free of charge.
'The Uncrowned Poet' is a poignant representation of the life journey of the renowned Dogri poet, Randhir Singh Jamwal, known artistically as Kunwar Viyogi. The play sheds light on the personal trials and tribulations of an aspiring poet, an ardent lover, a caring brother, and a devoted son. Kunwar Viyogi's story is a testament to resilience, highlighted by his remarkable journey from being an ambitious poet who temporarily set aside his creative pursuits to serve his country as an Airforce Officer. Despite the challenges of a military career and the tragic loss of his parents and wife, Kunwar Viyogi's passion for creativity remained undeterred. Instead of succumbing to a series of unfortunate events, heartbreak, and the added responsibility of caring for his younger siblings, Kunwar Viyogi's creative output thrived, with traces of his hardships evident in his poetic works. His story transcends the ordinary and exemplifies the passion of an artist, the fervor of a lover, and the patriotism of a serviceman. Kunwar Viyogi was not only a great human being but an institution in himself, living life to the fullest despite all adversities. 'The Uncrowned Poet' is a heartfelt tribute to Kunwar Viyogi's creative genius and provides a glimpse into the life of an unsung hero in the rich and beautiful history of Jammu and Kashmir.
