GDC RS Pura promotes drug awareness among youth in NCORD initiative

JAMMU, Sept 8: In a collective effort to combat the growing menace of drug abuse and addiction among the youth, the Drug De-addiction & Rehabilitation Cell (DDRC) and the 2 J&K Girls Battalion, NCC, Jammu, at Government Degree College (GDC) R S Pura, organized a lecture on the theme 'Menace of Drug Abuse Addiction: Role of Youth.' This enlightening event was conducted as part of the NCORD initiative and was carried out under the banner of the G-20 Presidency, with the patronage of the esteemed Principal, Dr. Rajni Bhagat. The event was efficiently supervised by Prof. Balwan Singh, Convener of DDRC, and Lt. (Dr.) Shaveta Chowdhary, ANO of Girls NCC. Prof. Balwan Singh, Convener of DDRC, initiated the event with a warm welcome address, extending greetings to all attendees. The lecture featured Subedar Suresh Bhai from Girls Bn. Office as the resource person. He addressed the audience, shedding light on the harmful effects of drug abuse and its alarming prevalence in society. Subedar Suresh Bhai emphasized the importance of cultivating good habits and abstaining from drug involvement. Furthermore, he underscored the pivotal role that NCC cadets can play in curbing this menace, highlighting their potential as influential youth leaders. The college's Principal, Dr. Rajni Bhagat, shared words of motivation and encouragement with the students, urging them to stay away from the clutches of drug addiction. She commended the efforts of the organizing committees in their commitment to raising awareness about this critical issue and safeguarding the future of the youth. In conclusion, Lt. Shaveta Chowdhary delivered a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and emphasizing the collective responsibility in the fight against drug abuse. The event, marked by its informative discourse and shared commitment to a drug-free society, stands as a testament to the dedication of GDC R S Pura in nurturing responsible and informed youth.
