Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 8: Jammu, In commemoration of World Rabies Day, Jammu Sanskriti School hosted a Rabies Awareness Talk to shed light on the importance of safeguarding against this life-threatening disease. The event served as a platform to unite people, organizations, and stakeholders from all sectors in the fight against rabies, emphasizing that collective efforts can lead to its elimination.
Rabies is a significant threat, and it is imperative to take necessary measures to protect everyone from its devastating effects. Even a small step toward rabies prevention can make a substantial difference in reducing its impact on communities.
The distinguished speaker for the event was Dr. Samruti, a renowned researcher in the field of rabies. Dr. Samruti provided valuable insights into raising awareness about rabies, highlighting the disease's impact on communities and empowering individuals to seek the necessary care. She also discussed methods for preventing rabies in animals, how to recognize rabies symptoms, and appropriate actions to take in case of a bite.
One key message from the talk was that rabies, although often fatal once symptoms appear, is 100% vaccine-preventable. Timely vaccination of individuals who have been exposed to potential rabies sources, as well as vaccinating dogs and other animals to prevent the disease at its source, has proven to be highly effective.
Rohini Aima, Principal Cum Vice-Chairperson of the school, emphasized the critical importance of timely vaccination and responsible behavior when dealing with potential rabies exposure. Negligence in this regard can have severe consequences, as studies have demonstrated.
The Rabies Awareness Talk at Jammu Sanskriti School not only aimed to educate the community about rabies but also encouraged a proactive approach to prevention. The event underscored the significance of collaborative efforts in combatting this deadly disease and highlighted the progress made in the ongoing battle against rabies.
