9/8/2023 10:23:46 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 8: In an emergency meeting of various Sikh organizations in Jammu and Kashmir, members expressed their concerns over the treatment of the Sikh community by the Central Government. The meeting was chaired by S. Mohinder Singh, Chief Organizer of the Bhai Kanahiya Nishkam Sewa Society J&K and former member of DGPC Jammu.
During the meeting, the Sikh organizations collectively voiced their displeasure over what they perceive as neglect and "step-motherly treatment" of the Sikh community, both in general and specifically in Jammu and Kashmir, by the Central Government. They highlighted that the Sikh community has been consistently overlooked.
One of the primary issues raised during the meeting was the exclusion of representatives from the Sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir from participating in the G20 summit held in New Delhi. The Sikh community members from the region were not given the opportunity to participate and present their grievances at the summit.
The G20 summit, an international forum for governments and central bank governors from 19 countries and the European Union, discusses various global issues, including climate change, debt, multinational corporation taxation, currency regulation, food and energy security, sustainability, and geopolitical conflicts.
Participants in the meeting included leaders and representatives from various Sikh organizations in Jammu and Kashmir, including Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, J&K Motor Transport Company Association, and Istri Akali Dal J&K, among others.
The Sikh organizations raised concerns about their exclusion from important national and international forums and emphasized the need for fair representation and recognition of the Sikh community's interests and perspectives in matters of global importance.
