| Zulfikar honoured in Udhampur | | PDP asks Govt to address employees’ issues | | Early Times Report Udhampur, Feb 1-Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today asked the state government to implement sixth pay commission recommendations and accept all demands of the agitating government employees and warned to launch a stir if promises made by both Congress and National Conference during the elections were not fulfilled by the ruling coalition. Addressing a function organized today to felicitate newly elected MLAs of the party from Jammu region, PDP leaders observed that both Congress and National Conference have made a number promises to the people during the elections but after attaining the power, the coalition government is adopting delay tactics in fulfilling these promises. Speaking on the occasion, PDP general secretary Daman Bhasin pointed out that both the NC and the Congress had promised to implement recommendations of the sixth pay Commission, if voted to power. "Government employees are agitating in support of their genuine demands but coalition government is trying to snub the voice of employees through suppressive measures", he lamented and warned the government that PDP would not remain as mute spectator to the hardship being faced by the employees. He asked the coalition government to implement the pay commission recommendations as early as possible. Party MLA from Darhal Choudhary Zulfikar pointed out that NC had promised to provide stipend to all unemployed youth of the State but nothing concrete has been done so far. He especially mentioned that un-employed technocrats and other trained youth have been agitating for the last six months but the new government has so far failed to formulate any comprehensive employment policy for these youth. Exhorting the party workers to oppose anti-people policies of the ruling coalition, he asserted that PDP has secured more votes than NC in Kashmir Valley and the party has enough strength to keep a check on the misdeeds of the new dispensation. Former MLC Dipender Kour, Sukhdev Sharma, Sansar Chand and other senior leaders also spoke on the occasion |
