Early Times Report

JAMMU, Sept 10: Natrang, a renowned theater group, presented a new Hindi play titled ‘Parda Uthne Se Pehle’ as part of its weekly theater series, Sunday Theatre, at its Studio Theatre in Kachi Chawni, Jammu. The play was written by Rajinder Kumar Sharma and directed by Neeraj Kant.
“Parda Uthne Se Pehle” revolves around a man who is deeply passionate about acting, but his wife is not fond of his interest in drama. When the play begins, Anil’s wife Sheela is seen expressing her disapproval of her husband’s involvement in acting. Sheela conveys her annoyance and mentions that no husband should become addicted to drama.
In the midst of their conversation, Anil enters the house, and Sheela becomes upset with him. Sheela informs Anil that if he desires drama in his life, he should send her to her parents’ house. Anil, however, praises Sheela and states that she is now the heroine of his play, as the original heroine, Veena, is unavailable, and his play is scheduled for the day after tomorrow. Anil begins rehearsing with Sheela.
During their rehearsal, a man arrives to collect entry passes for the play. Anil resumes rehearsing, but his talkative neighbor Makhan Lal drops by and engages in idle conversation. Anil manages to get rid of him, but then his son Munnu comes in, disrupting the rehearsal. After sending Munnu away, they continue rehearsing a scene where Anil points a toy pistol at Sheela and delivers dialogues.
Meanwhile, Anil’s neighbors, Pindidas and Subramaniam, hear the commotion and mistakenly believe that Anil is threatening Sheela with a real weapon. Anil explains the situation to them, clarifying that they are rehearsing for the play.
Eventually, Veena, the original heroine, arrives, and Sheela discovers the truth. She exposes Anil’s deceit, causing Veena to leave. Anil humorously remarks that his play ended before the curtain even rose, concluding the performance.
The play featured talented young artists from Natrang, including Chirag Anand, Abhimanyu Choudhary, Sumit Bandaral, Mehak Singh, Palshin Dutta, Harsh Dogra, Nikhil Sharma, Chaitanya Shekhar, and Sonali Sharma. The lighting and music for the play were managed by Neeraj Kant, with presentations by Mahikshit Singh and coordination by Mohd. Yaseen. Natrang continues to enrich the cultural landscape with its engaging theatrical productions.
