Early Times Report
RS PURA, Sept 12: In a resolute effort to combat drug abuse and promote integrity in the region, the Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Cell (DDRC) collaborated with the Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K Committee of Government Degree College, R.S. Pura. Together, they organized a compelling awareness lecture, shedding light on the pressing issue of eliminating drug use among youth and striving to make Jammu & Kashmir corruption-free. The event, held under the auspices of AKAM, Bhrashtachar Mukt Week and the G-20 Presidency, was conducted with the wholehearted support of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the patronage of the college's esteemed Principal, Prof. Rajni Bhagat.
This pivotal event was orchestrated under the guidance of Prof. Balwan Singh, Convener of DDRC, and Dr. Chetan Sharma, Convener of Bhrashtachar Mukt. The primary objective was to enlighten the student community about the detrimental impact of drug abuse and corrupt practices on society at large.
The program commenced with the screening of a poignant documentary and an enlightening e-play that sensitized the audience, particularly the youth, about the perils of indulging in substances such as tobacco, paan, cigarettes, liquor, and other forms of drug abuse.
Prof. Balwan Singh, in his address, emphasized the importance of de-addiction and the need to refrain from any activity that fosters the acceptance of bribes in any form. He drew inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi's vision of a corruption-free and drug-free nation.
During the event, several students from the college shared their insightful views on drug de-addiction and their commitment to contributing to a corruption-free India.
Principal Prof. Rajni Bhagat motivated the students to focus diligently on their studies and steer clear of any form of substance abuse, thereby playing an active role in building a healthier and more morally upright society.
The event witnessed active participation from over 100 students who engaged enthusiastically in the discussions and activities aimed at raising awareness.
Dr. Chetan Sharma concluded the event with a formal vote of thanks, acknowledging the presence and support of other dedicated faculty members, including Prof. Shifali Abrol, Dr. Savtanter Kour, Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Dr. Balwinder Kour, Dr. Anuradha, and Dr. Raj Kumar Santhal.
Government Degree College, R.S. Pura, remains committed to nurturing responsible and socially conscious citizens who will actively contribute to the betterment of society and work towards a brighter, drug-free, and corruption-free Jammu & Kashmir.
