JAMMU, Sept 12: Mahatma Gandhi, affectionately known as the 'Father of the Nation' in India, continues to be an unparalleled figure in the annals of history. His life's work and unwavering principles resonate globally, making him an enduring symbol of peace, nonviolence, and social justice. Gandhi's simplicity in living and his remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life earned him the title of 'Mahatma' or 'Great Soul.' His life's journey and teachings remain a timeless source of inspiration, transcending borders and generations.
In the spirit of celebrating Gandhi Jayanti 2023, with the theme 'Truth and Non-Violence,' Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra took a significant step towards honoring the Mahatma's legacy. The college presented a screening of two short films titled 'Mahatma Gandhi: The Journey of a Peaceful Revolutionary| Bibliography' and 'Teachings of Mahatma Gandhi' to introduce students to the life and ideals of the great Mahatma Gandhi.
These thoughtfully crafted short films provided a captivating glimpse into the life and teachings that Mahatma Gandhi embodied. They took the audience on a poignant journey through Gandhi's remarkable life, shedding light on his trials, triumphs, and enduring legacy.
The screening offered students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the life of one of history's most influential figures. It served as a platform for students to glean insights from Gandhi's principles of non-violence, truth, and social justice, which continue to hold profound relevance in today's world.
The program was meticulously organized by Shonima Malhotra, Assistant Professor of Sociology, with the active support of Rudrika Khajuria, Assistant Professor of English. Their dedication and commitment ensured the success of this meaningful event.
Under the patronship of Dr. B.B. Anand, Principal of GDC Sidhra, this event stood as a testament to the college's commitment to nurturing responsible and socially conscious citizens. By commemorating the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, GDC Sidhra reaffirmed its dedication to imparting not just academic knowledge but also the values and principles that can transform society for the better.
