Early Times Report
VIJAYPUR, Sept 12: The NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Government Degree College Vijaypur, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Samba, organized a day-long workshop titled "Startup and Entrepreneurship" under the flagship banner of Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations 2023, which includes initiatives like Nasha Mukt Bharat (Drug-Free India) and Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K (Corruption-Free Jammu and Kashmir).
The workshop aimed to equip students with various entrepreneurship ideas to enable them to establish their own ventures for employment. NSS volunteers and other college students participated in the workshop with great enthusiasm and zeal.
The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Shittal Sharma, Convenor of IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) and NSS. She shared her insights into entrepreneurship as the process of extracting and creating economic value, emphasizing that entrepreneurship often involves taking risks beyond what is typical when starting a business.
Resource persons for the workshop included Vishal Ray, In-Charge of the Start-Up and Incubation Centre, Divisional Officer Jammu, and Virpratap Singh Slathia, District Nodal Officer of the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Samba. They provided valuable information on various government schemes aimed at promoting entrepreneurship development. Students actively engaged in the workshop, posing questions to the resource persons and seeking guidance on entrepreneurship-related topics.
Dr. Vandana Gupta, the Principal of the College, commended the workshop's ability to provide students with the skills and readiness to develop, organize, and run a business enterprise, even in the face of uncertainty, with the goal of generating profit. She congratulated the resource persons for imparting their knowledge on startup and entrepreneurship to the students. The Principal presented mementos to the resource persons as a token of appreciation.
The entire event was coordinated by Dr. Shittal Sharma, and the formal vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, NSS Program Officer. The workshop served as an educational platform to empower students with entrepreneurial knowledge and inspire them to explore entrepreneurship as a career path.
