After attaching MS, Health Deptt orders probe into alleged illegal activities of doctors in Ganderbal

Jammu, Sept 12: Two months after attaching the Medical Superintendent, the Health and Medical Education Department on Tuesday constituted a one-member inquiry panel to conduct a probe into allegations of illegal activities of doctors at District Hospital Ganderbal.
Interestingly, a one-member inquiry panel has been constituted on the complaint of the Medical Superintendent who was attached to the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir.
According to an order No. HD-GazOGen/736/2023-02 (E-7270515) Dated: 12.09.2023 issued by Bhupinder Kumar Secretary to the Government Health & Medical Education Department, “Sanction is, hereby, accorded to the appointment of Dr. Shafqat Khan, Additional Mission Director, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, J&K as Inquiry Officer to enquire into the complaint filed by Dr. Ab. Majid Bhatt, against few doctors/other officials of District Hospital, Ganderbal for their involvement in illegal activities.”
The inquiry officer shall submit an inquiry report along with recommendations within ten days from the date of issuance of this order.
Earlier on July 11, the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir took action against the Medical Superintendent (MS) of District Hospital Ganderbal, Dr. Abdul Majid Bhat, following allegations of harassment made by the medical and paramedical staff.
Dr. Abdul Majid Bhat was attached to the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, with Dr. Nighat Yasmeen Sheikh, the current Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Ganderbal, assuming the additional responsibility of the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Ganderbal until further notice.
The decision to attach Dr. Bhat was taken after a protest organized by doctors and paramedical staff at District Hospital Ganderbal. The medical professionals gathered within the hospital premises, expressing their discontent and demanding the removal of the Medical Superintendent due to alleged deplorable behavior.
