Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 13: In a resolute move, Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit initiated the "Main Bhi Ek Sainik" campaign today, paying homage to "Sher-e-Duggar" Prem Nath Dogra, a prominent figure in Jammu's history.
Under the leadership of Manish Sahni, the President of the party's Jammu and Kashmir chapter, a group of dedicated Shiv Sainiks paid floral tributes to Prem Nath Dogra, setting the tone for their commitment to the cause.
Shiv Sainiks embarked on a door-to-door campaign, engaging with the public and urging them to unite for the restoration of their rights and to stand up against arbitrary decisions.
Sahni lamented that the people of Jammu, who steadfastly supported significant decisions of the Central Government, such as the abrogation of Article 370, have felt betrayed. He emphasized that those who once praised Jammu now remain silent about the city's discrimination and the perceived injustices.
Highlighting pressing concerns, Sahni noted that Jammu's cultural identity is under threat, with issues like the near shutdown of Jammu Doordarshan, commercial activities encroaching upon the historic Mubarak Mandi complex, and the deteriorating state of the historic Ranbir Canal.
Sahni pointed out the adverse economic impact stemming from disruptions to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage due to the expansion of rail and road routes. Tourism destinations in Jammu have suffered, and the proliferation of liquor shops has contributed to addiction and crime among the youth.
The rising rate of unemployment and deepening despair among the youth, coupled with economic instability, has pushed them towards drug abuse and criminal activities. The public bears the burden of inflation, unemployment, and economic instability, including the imposition of smart meters and property tax.
Sahni stressed that the "Main Bhi Ek Sainik" campaign aims to secure the rights of the region's residents, protect cultural heritage, provide free electricity and water, offer toll-free travel, combat drug abuse and crime, address inflation, unemployment, and improve healthcare and education.
He called upon all to become "Sanik" (soldiers) and join the fight for their rights, marking a pivotal moment in their collective journey towards a brighter future.
The campaign launch event witnessed the presence of several prominent Shiv Sainiks, including Meenakshi Chhibber, President of the Women's Wing, Vikas Bakshi, General Secretary, Rakesh Gupta, Chairman, Sanjeev Kohli, Vice President, Raj Singh, President of the Kamghar Wing, Ashwani Prabhakar, Prabhari, Sanjeev Sharma, President of Udhampur, Geeta Lakhotra, Dimple, Shashi Pal, Mangu Ram, Sahil Gandotra, Vishal Verma, and many others.
Shiv Sena's "Main Bhi Ek Sainik" campaign represents a determined effort to advocate for the rights and well-being of the people of Jammu, addressing a range of pressing issues and fostering a sense of unity and purpose among the community.
