Martyrdom of soldier, army dog in Kalakote encounter will be remembered forever: Raman Suri

JAMMU, Sept 13: Asserting that the terrorists' days in Jammu and Kashmir are numbered, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri today said that the martyrdom of soldier and a pet (Army dog) named Kent during an encounter between terrorists and soldiers in Village Patrada in Kalakote will never be forgotten. This sacrifice to defend borders and flush out terrorists is a debt on our shoulders which we can never repay, he added.
The BJP leader said that this encounter was the result of frustration of residual terrorists who are trying to sustain themselves by resorting to such cowardice tactics but our valiant soldiers, by sacrificing their lives saved our peace. This is a very heavy price that they pay for safety and security of the nation, which will always remain indebted to them, he said, adding that the loss is irreparable for the family but this martyrdom sends a strong message that the Indian soldiers are well-motivated to defend their nation and its people.
Raman Suri said, pets like Kent, a six-year-old female Labrador who was working for the army and sacrificed her life, are also an example how faithful animals remain to their masters/handlers. Her sacrifice will also be remembered forever. This is an example of faithfulness as to how she took the bullets on herself while trying to save her handler during the encounter.
Raman Suri hoped that the three security personnel, two Army jawans and one Special Police Officer, who were injured in the gunfight will recover soon and said that the terrorism in J&K is on its last leg and this frustration is forcing terrorists to resort to such activities. However, the gunning down of terrorists during the gunfight is indicative of the fact that our soldiers are prepared to take them head-on and will not rest till they all are wiped out. Otherwise also, people have rejected violence and are enjoying the newly-dawned peace. The Union Government's firm resolve to wipe out terrorism is bearing fruits and now every corner of the Union Territory (UT) is seeing development and prosperity.
The BJP leader said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are fulfilling their commitment made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir that peace will dawn here and terrorism will be wiped out. This is the reason that cross-border terrorism is on its last leg, separatist forces are nowhere to be seen and people are having a sigh of relief as their children are seeing a bright future for themselves in a safe, peaceful, developing, and good atmosphere.
