Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 13: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) Jammu & Kashmir organized a special program in both Jammu and Kathua to pay tribute to the late L. Sardar Lakshman Ravinder Singh, a revered trade union leader. Singh dedicated his entire life to organizing workers in the unorganized sector, facilitating the registration of unions under the Trade Union Act, and advocating for the welfare of underprivileged laborers, especially those in the private sector. He also assisted thousands of workers in availing benefits under various labor laws.
Sardar Lakshman Ravinder Singh was deputed to Jammu and Kashmir by the central BMS in 1977 to organize workers. Today, BMS stands as the largest labor organization in Jammu and Kashmir, thanks to his tireless efforts.
To commemorate the fourth-year anniversary of Sardar Lakshman Ravinder Singh's passing, a Pooja (prayer ceremony) was organized at the BMS office in his memory. The event saw the presence of notable figures including Ashfaq Ahemad Chohan, Neelam Sharma (President and General Secretary of BMS), Harbans Choudhary (Working President), Ashok Choudhary (Organizing Secretary), Mukesh Kumar (State Secretary of BMS), and S. Chanan Singh Toor (Chairman of the Central Board for Workers Education). Also present were Swarna Choudhary and Roshu Sharma (President and General Secretary, respectively, of the Aganwadi Workers Welfare Association), Chunni Lal (Convener of Paryavaran Manch), Subash Chander (Office Secretary), Romesh Lal Malhotra, Roop Lal, Balbinder Singh, and Kuldeep Raj Sharma.
Following the Pooja ceremony, a langar (community kitchen) was organized at Prade in Jammu, with the participation of hundreds of workers and members of the general public. The langar served as a symbol of communal unity and solidarity.
The event underscored the enduring legacy of L. Sardar Lakshman Ravinder Singh and celebrated his tireless commitment to workers' rights and welfare. It also highlighted the continued dedication of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh to the cause of labor advocacy and social justice.
