Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 13: The weekly Block Diwas programme was held today at BDO Office Miran Sahib and was chaired by District Magistrate, Sachin Kumar Vaishya.
DDC Member Miran Sahib, Vidya Mottan; DDC Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony and BDC Chairman Miran Sahib, Dalip Kumar, besides sarpanches and panches attended the event prominently.
In candid talks with the officers, the District Magistrate emphasised the paramount importance of effective garbage disposal. He insisted on streamlining garbage collection and disposal mechanisms. Strict actions were mandated against improper garbage disposal, underlining that cleanliness is a collective responsibility. He also urged the public to actively participate in these endeavours.
In his address, the DM highlighted the need for a delicate balance between enforcing rules and meeting the genuine demands and needs of the public. He encouraged officers to view criticism as constructive feedback and commit to earning the trust of the public, thereby elevating the reputation of government offices.
During the interactive session, several pressing issues were raised by the public. These included unresolved pension matters, the lack of a proper sports stadium, staff shortages in the Revenue Department and concerns related to the upkeep and cleanliness of irrigation canals. Other grievances encompassed compensation issues linked to damaged infrastructure, erratic power supply and the state of health facilities.
In response, the DM assured the public of swift appropriate action while announcing a special pension camp to address pending pension issues at the Miran Sahib BDO office on September 15.
Turning his attention to the menacing issue of drug abuse, the DM urged parents and families to engage in open dialogues with their children and youth to combat the menace effectively. He emphasised that such proactive conversations are essential to eradicating drug abuse from society.
SDPO R.S Pura, Nikhil Gogna, updated the DM on the ongoing actions under the NDPS Act and underscored the need for public support in this fight.
The public meeting drew participation from a large number of locals and PRI members. Officers present at the occasion also included SDM Miran Sahib, ACD Jammu, Priti Sharma; BDO Miran Sahib, Gurjeet Singh and other officers.
