JAMMU, Sept 13: Prof. Dr Sushil Sharma, Head of Department of Cardiology, GMCH, Jammu, was today felicitated 'SANT VINOBA BHAVE RASHTRIYA SEVA PURSKAR' by Gandhi Global Family, Women Andaman Nicobar Islands, Port Blair for his outstanding contribution in saving many precious lives by treating them to the best of his abilities and creating awareness among the masses about healthy life Style.
Gandhi Global Family is United Nations Department of Global Communications accredited Peace NGO which propagates the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr & Nelson Mandela among youth. It associates itself at enhancing friendship at Grass root level and establish people to people contact throughout the world. Mrs. Anuradha Lall ( President GGF(W) Andaman & Nicobar Islands), Padma Shri Dr SP Varma, Tripta Varma, ID Soni , Dr Taran Singh, Dr Rohindra Lall, Mehbash, Ravinder Kumar (Bharam Kumari Ashram Jammu), Dr Sanjogita Soodan (Dy. Superintendent SSH), Dr Arvind Kohli (Vascular Surgeon), Dr Rahul Gupta ( HOD Chest Diseases Hospital) and Jyoti Sharma graced the occasion .

He heralded a new era in the field of preventive cardiology by organizing free camps for poor, downtrodden and rural area people every Sunday providing best Medicare to the deserving people. He is also recipient of many national and international awards including State Award for meritorious public services, Swami Vivekananda Award, Mahatma Gandhi Seva Medal, Double Helical National Health Award, Kariyappa Award, Global Peace Award, Most Popular Doctor Award by FM Radio 92.7, World Hypertension League Award and Exceptional community Service Award by C3 Society, Orlando USA. He is known for being available to the ailing community every time and known for his philanthropic initiatives.
