DC Kathua presides over Block Diwas programme at Marheen

KATHUA, Sept 13: Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Minhas, today presided over a Public Outreach programme at Ramlila Club in Marheen Block, as part of weekly Block Diwas program.
On the occasion, PRIs, Social activists, individuals projected the issues of public importance and sought immediate redress of the same.
The major issues highlighted during the proceedings of block diwas were filling of vacant post of MBBS Doctor in PHC Marheen, non availability of English lecturer at GHSS Marheen, setting up of urban local body in Marheen Tehsil, exorbitant electricity bills, provision of play ground, relocation of electric poles etc.
The inhabitants also demanded crop compensation of their damaged crop due to recent incessant rains and flash floods besides demanding extension of pension benefits to NPHH ration card holders.
After giving a patient hearing, the DC Kathua assured people that all of their genuine issues will be redressed with the active anticipation of the concerned departments.
Responding to the demand of a MBBS doctor in PHC Marheen, DC Kathua directed CMO Kathua to depute a doctor which was immediately complied and order of which was also issued. He passed the instructions to XEn PWD and XEn JKPDCL to take on spot inspection of roads and electric lines respectively and take necessary action.
On the issue of exhorbitant electric bills the DC also appealed to the locals to apply for an electric meter and get it installed at their homes so as to track proper record of consumption of electricity.
DC also asked for the list of defunct handpumps from the PRI representatives so that necessary repair can be done within timelines. The DC also directed BDO Marheen to ensure extension of PMAY and provision of Toilets for leftover houses under SBM to all the eligible beneficiaries in his jurisdiction. Highlighting the importance of tapping employment opportunities in industries, the DC called upon locals, especially young unemployed, to get acquainted with necessary skills to get suitable jobs.
Earlier, DDC Marheen Karan Attri informed the gathering about the development projects undertaken in Marheen constituency, further appealed people to avail welfare schemes launched by different departments besides encashing self employment opportunities to become self-reliant.
On the occasion stalls of different departments exhibiting their schemes and programmes were also installed.
Among others, CPO, ACD, SDM Hiranagar, CEO, CMO, CAO, XEn. PWD Hiranagar Division, XEn Jal Shakti, Tehsildar Marheen BDO Marheen and other district and sectoral officers were also present.
