Govt SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu hosts symposium

JAMMU, Sept 15: The Department of Commerce at Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, organized a symposium competition centered on the theme "Truth and Non-violence" in commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti. This event was conducted as part of the college's participation in the G20 initiative. A total of 50 students enthusiastically participated in the program, which was organized under the gracious patronage of Dr. Surinder Kumar, the Principal of the college.
During the event, Dr. Surinder Kumar shared valuable insights into the fundamental pillars of Gandhian philosophy: truth and non-violence. He encouraged the students to uphold these principles in their actions and conduct, emphasizing their importance in building a just and peaceful society.
The successful planning and execution of the event were made possible through the able guidance of Prof. Barbara Kaul, Head of the Department of Commerce. Prof. Kaul stressed the significance of cooperation and non-violence in shaping the character of children, as these qualities form the bedrock of a peaceful, secular, and progressive society.
In the symposium competition, Anamika Thakur emerged as the first-prize winner, showcasing her understanding of the theme. Rama and Pallavi secured the second and third positions, respectively, reflecting their insightful contributions.
The competition was adjudicated by Dr. Monika Malhotra and Prof. Ashu Manhas, who played a pivotal role in evaluating the presentations. The event was graced by the presence of other esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Shipra, Dr. Jagmeet, Prof. Shreya, Dr. Sarabjeet Kour Sudan, and Prof. Sindhu Kotwal.
The seamless proceedings of the event were conducted by Prof. Charandeep Handa. This symposium served as a meaningful platform for students to engage with Gandhian values and reflect on their continued relevance in today's world. It was an insightful celebration of Gandhi Jayanti, fostering a deeper understanding of truth and non-violence among the college's vibrant student community.
