RAMGARH, Sept 16: Govt. Degree College Ramgarh (GDC Ramgarh) celebrated Gandhi Jayanti 2023 with great fervor and enthusiasm by organizing an Intra-College Slogan Writing Competition on the theme of 'Truth and Non-Violence.' This event was part of a series of activities being organized under the aegis of India's Presidency in G20 and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The competition, organized under the able guidance and coordination of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, the Principal of the College, witnessed active participation from a multitude of students who demonstrated their creative prowess and commitment to the values espoused by Mahatma Gandhi.
The slogans crafted by the students encompassed messages related to cleanliness, truth, non-violence, and principles of life, reflecting the enduring relevance of Gandhi's teachings in contemporary society. Prof. Risha Kumari, the Convener of the series of activities surrounding Gandhi Jayanti 2023, noted that Gandhiji's ideology of 'Truth and Non-Violence' played a pivotal role in the Indian Independence movement and continues to shape the development of Indian nationalism. She also highlighted that non-violence is not just a political strategy but a personal practice of being harmless to oneself and others under all circumstances.
To commence the event, Dr. Sandeep Kumar from the Department of Statistics briefed the participants on the competition's rules and underlined the immense value and significance of Gandhiji's weapons of non-violence and truth in today's world.
The results of the competition were a testament to the students' dedication and creative abilities. Deepika Kundal, a student from Semester V, secured the first position, followed by Akriti Sharma, who claimed the second position. Ritika Manhas, also a student from Semester V, earned the third position.
Several faculty members graced the event with their presence, including Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Prof. Seema Sharma, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dr. Shamsher Lal, Prof. Risha Kumari, Dr. Rahul Kundal, Dr. Ekta Rani, Dr. Shivali Choudhary, and Dr. Paramjeet Kour.
The Intra-College Slogan Writing Competition at GDC Ramgarh not only celebrated the values and principles that Mahatma Gandhi stood for but also served as a reminder of the enduring impact of truth and non-violence in shaping a better future for society. It showcased the commitment of the college to instill these principles in the hearts and minds of the students, fostering a more peaceful and harmonious world.
