Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 16: In commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti, Government College for Women (GCW) Bhagwati Nagar organized a spirited Slogan Writing Competition centered on the theme of "Truth and Non-violence." Under the able guidance of the college's principal, Dr. Meeru Abrol, this event aimed to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi's enduring legacy and his profound philosophy of Ahimsa (non-violence) and truth.
Gandhi's profound belief in the inseparability of truth and non-violence was eloquently emphasized during the competition. "My religion is based on truth and non-violence. Truth is my god. Non-violence is the means of realizing him," Gandhi once stated. He ardently believed that peace and harmony could be achieved through love, non-violence, truthfulness, friendliness, compromise, and cooperation. Truth and non-violence, he believed, bound humanity together and connected individuals to a higher spiritual plane.
The Slogan Writing Competition provided a platform for participants to express their thoughts, ideas, and creativity through compelling slogans that resonated with the principles of truth and non-violence. Students enthusiastically participated and crafted thought-provoking slogans that celebrated the ideals of sincerity, non-violence, righteousness, and truthfulness.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Meeru Abrol, the college's principal, underscored the value and significance of Gandhi's weapons of truth and non-violence. She emphasized that non-violence was a weapon of the strong, and both truth and non-violence were intrinsically linked. While achieving complete non-violence in thought, word, and deed may be challenging, she stressed the importance of making continuous progress toward this noble goal.
The Slogan Writing Competition was skillfully organized by Dr. Eisha Verma from the Department of Education, who worked tirelessly to ensure its success. Dr. Meeru Abrol applauded the commendable efforts of the students and emphasized the transformative potential of such competitions in society. She noted that by encouraging the exploration of these fundamental principles, society could take significant strides towards embracing truth and non-violence as guiding principles in daily life.
This event not only celebrated the ideals that Mahatma Gandhi stood for but also served as a reminder of the profound impact of truth and non-violence in shaping a better future for all. GCW Bhagwati Nagar continues to nurture the spirit of Gandhi's teachings, paving the way for a more harmonious and just society.
