Early Times Report
SAMBA, Sept 16: Samba Police, under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police Benam Tosh, has taken action by arresting an accused woman for her involvement in abetment to suicide in connection with the case FIR No. 82/2023 under section 306 IPC at Police Station Ghagwal. This development follows an in-depth investigation into the tragic death of "Rani" from Ghagwal, whose husband had been previously arrested.
The case initially began with inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC into the mysterious death of 42-year-old Rani Devi from Harsath, Ghagwal district, Samba. The purpose of these proceedings was to ascertain the actual cause of her death. Subsequently, the case was converted into an FIR under section 306 IPC, and the husband of the deceased was taken into custody.
On August 13, 2023, the Police Station Ghagwal received information regarding the suspicious death of Rani Devi. In response, an inquest was initiated, and postmortem procedures were carried out, along with other necessary legal formalities. The police gathered evidence and determined that the deceased Rani Devi had consumed a poisonous substance, allegedly due to the abetment to suicide by her husband and an accused woman.
The husband, identified as Surinder Singh, son of Kartar Singh, and a resident of Harsath, Tehsil Ghagwal, district Samba, had already been arrested and is currently in jail under judicial custody. Now, the police have also apprehended the accused woman, marking a significant development in the case. Further investigation is actively underway.
The investigation into this case is being diligently conducted by SI Uttam Chand and SHO of Police Station Ghagwal, Inspector Bharat Bhushan, under the supervision of Deputy SP Garu Ram and Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary.
Under the directives of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, the Samba Police are committed to swiftly resolving mysterious death cases within the district on their merits. All individuals involved in such cases are being brought to justice in accordance with the law.
