| Mir favours early Panchayat election | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 2- Jammu Kashmir Democratic Party, headed by Ghulam Hassan Mir, has urged the Government to hold the Panchayat election as early as possible. He said that the party has favours early Panchayat election in Jammu and Kashmir in order to promote political empowerment of the people at the grass root level.
He said that completion of the Panchayat elections would also facilitate free flow of money on the centrally sponsored schemes. He said that in the absence of an elected Panchayats there was danger of misuse of funds earmarked for the centrally sponsored projects.
Asked whether he would support the ruling coalition candidates for the Rajya Sabha, Mir said "I have not decided anything yet." He said "nobody approached me for the support and the picture will become clear after the parties announce the names of the candidates for the four seats for which election would be held on February 13.
Meanwhile, Panthers Party and the BJP feel concerned over the way three major political parties, the Congress, the PDP and the National Conference have not shown interest in fielding any candidate from the Jammu region. Both Ashok Khajuria, BJP Chief and Harsh Dev Singh said that within a day or two they would decide on the strategy they were going to adopt.
