Dr. Vishal Sharma honored with prestigious national award for contributions to science & technology

Jammu, Sept 17: Dr. Vishal Sharma, son of Kanta Devi and Late Shruti Paul Sharma, and a native of Basohli in District Kathua, has received the prestigious “National Award for Outstanding Contribution to Science & Technology” and “Excellence in Education” accolade. The award was presented to him by Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Hon’ble Minister of State for the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as the Minister of State for the Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy, and Department of Space, Government of India.
Dr. Vishal Sharma currently serves as the Head of the Department of Electronics at Maulana Azad Memorial College in Jammu. He was bestowed with this esteemed award in recognition of his exceptional achievements in the field of Science & Technology, both at the national and international levels. Furthermore, his meritorious contributions to nurturing a scientific mindset among students in Jammu and Kashmir have been highly regarded. Dr. Sharma’s dedication to the field extends beyond the classroom. He has shared his expertise and experiences by contributing articles to newspapers and magazines, orchestrating various scientific events, and motivating students to embark on entrepreneurial journeys by starting their own startups. His efforts aim to cultivate an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship within the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. The recognition was presented to Dr. Sharma during the Youth Conclave held in Jammu from September 16th to 17th, 2023. The event was organized by the CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu, under the auspices of the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. In addition to his national recognition, Dr. Vishal Sharma holds the titles of Fulbright Climate Fellow in the USA, Commonwealth Fellow in the UK, and Global Goals Ambassador for the United Nations (UN) Association of the USA. His remarkable journey, from humble beginnings in Basohli to becoming a prominent figure in the field of electronics and innovation, serves as a source of inspiration.
It exemplifies the power of dedication, passion, and commitment to education and societal betterment, not only in his region but for the entire nation. Dr. Sharma’s story is a shining example of what can be achieved through hard work and a resolute determination to make a positive impact on society.
