| Bhaderwah Royal fort to be thrown open for public | | | Early Times Report
Bhaderwah, Feb 02- In a historic development, 300 years old fort used for lodgment of political detenues was today vacated from the department of prisons by Bhadarwah development authority after 60 years. The fort which was got vacated by the Bhadarwah development authority will be used as a library, open air theatre and museum to attract the tourist. The fort will remain open for public of the area and tourists visiting the here, an official of Bhaderwah Development Authority said today adding the opening of the fort will give a new look to tourism sector of the area. From historical evidences Bhadarwah was an independent state from 12th century to 1821, was divided into 15 political parts. The Bhadarwah royal fort was the center of administration for the then government which was used by the kings of Bhadarwah from Nagpal to Bradchak and continuously construction work carried out. In 1773 Raja Chamba Fatah Lal rebuilt the wall of fort. In 1846 British sold Kashmir to Dogra Ruler Gulab Singh and continuously Dogra ruler included Bhadarwah into its territory and on October 20, 1927 Dogra ruler and Bhadarwah sovereignty was ceased.
