Reasi police thwarts multiple bovine smuggling attempts, 17 bovines rescued

REASI, Sept 19: The Reasi Police continued its special drive against bovine smugglers, successfully foiling multiple attempts at bovine smuggling in the region. A total of 17 bovine animals were rescued and several accused individuals were arrested in connection with these incidents.
During a routine Naka checking operation at Bhambla, a vehicle with registration No. JK03B-8711 was intercepted and found to be illegally transporting 14 bovine animals without the necessary DM permission. An FIR was registered in this regard as Case FIR No. 62/2023 under sections 188/IPC 11 1(a) PC Act at P/S Pouni, and the accused, Sahil Ahamad, son of Mohd Ashraf, resident of Malik Market Narwal, Jammu, was arrested.
In another incident, the Police team of Police Post Bhambla thwarted a bovine smuggling attempt and rescued 01 bovine animal. The individuals attempting the smuggling were identified as Mohd Aslam, son of Mohd Sharief, and Mohd Azam, son of Abdul Hussain, both residents of Kothian, Tehsil Pouni, District Reasi. Case FIR No. 63/2023 U/S 188 IPC and 11 (1) (a) PC Act was registered at Police Station Pouni, and both accused were arrested.
In yet another incident, a Police Party from Police Post Bhambla foiled a bovine smuggling bid and rescued 02 bovine animals from a Mahindra pick-up bearing Reg. No. JK11D-1645. The accused individuals were identified as Ajay Sharma, son of Bishamber Lal, resident of Saranoo, Tehsil and District Rajouri, and Krishan Singh, son of Lal Chand, resident of Dalhori, Tehsil and District Rajouri. A Case FIR No. 64/2023 U/S 188 IPC 11 (1) (a) PC Act was registered at Police Station Pouni, and both accused were arrested.
The entire operation was led by PSI Jasbir Choudhary, I/C PP Bhambla, and SHO Pouni Purab Singh, under the supervision of DySP HQ Reasi Neeraj Padyar-JKPS.
Reasi Police, under the guidance of Sh. Amit Gupta, JKPS SSP Reasi, has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards bovine smuggling and remains committed to eradicating this menace from the district.
