GDC Khour celebrates Gandhi Jayanti with truth and non-violence competitions

KHOUR, Sept 19: In a tribute to the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, the Cultural Committee of Government Degree College (GDC) Khour organized an inspiring Essay Writing competition and a melodious Singing competition centered around the theme of "Truth and Non-Violence." These events were part of the college's extensive program celebrating Gandhi Jayanti, which spanned from September 12, 2023, to October 2, 2023.
The primary objective of these competitions was to foster an understanding of Mahatma Gandhi's teachings and values and to emphasize their continued relevance in today's world. Students from the third and fifth semesters enthusiastically participated in the Essay Writing competition, with approximately 60 students lending their voices to this meaningful celebration.
In the Singing competition, the talented group led by Mandeep emerged as the victors, winning the first prize and leaving a melodious mark on the event. In the Essay Writing Competition, the following students showcased their literary prowess and clinched the top positions:
First Prize: Needhi Kumari
Second Prize: Riya Bhau
Third Prize: Manat Bhau
The smooth proceedings of the program were skillfully handled by Saksham and Sonia from Semester III. Dr. Seema Sudan, the Convenor of the Cultural Committee, expressed her gratitude in a heartfelt vote of thanks.
The successful execution of these events was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the Cultural Committee, guided by the astute leadership of Prof (Dr.) T.K Sharma, the Principal of GDC Khour. This initiative not only pays homage to Mahatma Gandhi's enduring legacy but also instills his ideals of truth and non-violence in the young minds of tomorrow.
The celebrations surrounding Gandhi Jayanti at GDC Khour continue to serve as a beacon of inspiration, promoting the timeless principles of truth and non-violence advocated by the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
