BJP leader Kavinder Gupta commends PM Modi's approval of women reservation bill
9/19/2023 10:38:53 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again made history by giving his approval to the Women Reservation Bill, a significant step towards ensuring guaranteed representation of women in Indian politics. This was highlighted by senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, while inaugurating a development project involving the construction of lanes and drains in Ward No 6, Raipur Satwari.
During his address to the gathering, the veteran BJP leader emphasized that the long-pending Women's Reservation Bill, which received the Union Cabinet's approval during a special session of Parliament, proposes a 33 percent quota for women in the Lok Sabha and state Legislative Assemblies. This initiative has been a longstanding demand of numerous political parties and leaders.
"In the current Lok Sabha, there are only 78 women members, constituting less than 15 percent of the total strength of 543. Additionally, several states have less than 10 percent representation of women in their respective assemblies," he pointed out. He underscored that September 19, 2023, would be remembered in the annals of history as a momentous occasion, as no other leader in the country possessed the courage or determination to take this revolutionary step.
Kavinder Gupta commended Prime Minister Modi for his audacity and visionary approach. He anticipated that the Women's Reservation Bill would receive approval sooner rather than later, expressing confidence that only Prime Minister Modi possessed the focus and determination to see it through. He noted that the BJP had consistently supported efforts to pass the Women's Reservation Bill, evident through the Modi government's policies, which are largely oriented towards women-led development.
The senior BJP leader remarked that Prime Minister Modi possessed a unique ability to undertake endeavors that others lacked the courage or determination to pursue. He celebrated this historic move as yet another achievement for PM Modi, who has already made several groundbreaking decisions and advances for the nation. Gupta also emphasized that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the country has experienced tremendous development, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, which has seen remarkable progress and development.
Subsequently, Kavinder Gupta engaged with local residents and listened to their concerns, particularly regarding civic issues. He assured them that these matters would be addressed as a priority by liaising with the relevant authorities.
Prominent figures present at the event included Vinay Gupta, Narinder Koki, Bharat Bhushan (Vice Chairman, Cantonment), Amrik Singh, Avtar Singh, Monu Salathia, Harpal Singh Panch, Ashu Panch, Ramesh Kumar, Surjeet Singh, Lok Pal, Des Raj, and Jeet Raj Chowdhary.
