Decorated officer solved various terror incidents in Jammu region during his tenure

Jammu, Sept 19: After rendering service as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu zone, Mukesh Singh has been appointed Inspector General of the prestigious Indo-Tibetan Border Police on a deputation basis.
According to an order issued by issued by Additional Secretary Union Home Ministry, Government of India Sanjeev Kumar, Mukesh Singh, IPS (AGMUT:1996) has been appointed as Inspector General in lndo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on deputation basis.
“The undersigned is directed to refer to UT Division's OM No. 14023/03/2022- UTS-Idated 18.09.2023 on the subject mentioned above and to convey approval of the competent authority for appointment of Shri Mukesh Singh, IPS (AGMUT :1996) as Inspector General (Level-14 in the Pay Matrix) in lndo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) against existing vacancy on deputation basis for a period of five years from the date of assumption of the charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier”, the order reads as.
“It is requested to relieve Shri Mukesh Singh, IPS (AGMUT:1996) immediately to enable him to take up his new assignments at the Centre”, the order further reads.
Mukesh Singh was appointed as IGP Jammu in August 2019 after the abrogation of the Article 370 and 35-A.
Prior to his posting as IGP Jammu Zone the he served in the Police Department in various capacities and thereafter proceeded on deputation to Government of India.
During service Mukesh Singh has remained posted as SP Reasi, SP Pulwama, Commandant, 7th Bn , SP City south Srinagar, SP Poonch, SSP Jammu, SSP NHRC, IGP Armed, Kashmir, IGP Pers PHQ, J&K and thereafter proceeded on deputation to NIA where he remained posted as IGP Investigation and as IGP Crime J&K
The officer was awarded with DGP’s Commendation Medal in the year 1999, Sher-e- Kashmir Police Medal for Gallantry in the year 2002, Police Medal for Gallantry in the year 2003, Army Commander Commendation Medal in 2005, Police Medal for Gallantry in the year 2005 and Police Medal for Meritorious services in the year 2010.
During his tenure as ADGP and IGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh solved various terror incidents in the Jammu region.
