Early Times Report
THANNAMANDI, Sept 20: In a heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the NSS unit of Govt. Degree College Thannamandi rallied together for a purposeful "Cleanliness Drive" within the college campus. Under the patronage of the college's esteemed Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed, this initiative aimed not only to tidy up the physical spaces but also to uphold the cherished ideals of simplicity and cleanliness so ardently championed by the Father of the Nation.
Approximately 50 enthusiastic NSS volunteers enthusiastically participated in the drive. Their mission was clear: clean the surroundings, remove debris, and responsibly dispose of various types of waste. The collective effort showcased a commitment to fostering a cleaner and more mindful environment.
Taking a moment to address the volunteers, Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed, Principal of the college, commended the NSS unit for their dedicated efforts. He underscored the importance of cleanliness not only in the college campus but in every aspect of life. Stressing the need to maintain cleanliness at home, college, and workplaces, he highlighted how this practice contributes to a healthier and more organized society.
Prof. Naveen Sharma, Head of Department of Environmental Sciences, added his support and motivation to the volunteers. He emphasized the vital role cleanliness plays in creating a healthy society and conducive academic environment. He urged the students to refrain from littering on the roads and encouraged them to work towards a cleaner and greener world.
